Almost every time we close a deal, we get the same question: Google Ads or Facebook Ads? I think whatever the answer is, it can easily can easily start a dispute between each platform’s fans.
After more than 15 years of experience, the answer for us is very simple: YES! 😁
Joke aside, if you want to reach customers, there is no better place to be in online than Google Ads and Facebook Ads. Also, living in a world that spends more and more time scrolling through Social Media or “Googling it”, if you want awareness or conversions, you got to be there.
Why is online advertising important?
According to SocialMediaToday.com, a person spends about 5 years and 4 months on Social Media.
Moreover, there are on average 5.600.000.000 daily searches on Google, that’s around 63.000 Google searches per second!
This being told, I don’t think of any argument I can write to convince you, that you should be there right in front of those who are interested of your products or services. But before we can draw a conclusion we need to know the pro’s and the con’s of both platforms!
Google Ads
Google Ads is the most popular and used search engine. It offers access to the largest base of websites, and offers you a wide audience. Recently Google has integrated in it’s platform the possibility to create responsive ads (for both Search and Display campaigns) so you can show your ads on more websites. But, although creating a campaign is very easy, optimising it will take a lot of time. You can’t act actively. If you need to optimise the campaigns, you have to wait for at least 24h so you can see the results.
Facebook Ads
First thing that comes to my mind when I think about Facebook Ads is the best audience granularity. With the right targeting this means an incredible ROI. Facebook Ads are very visual. Being one of the most important platforms in Social Media, don’t expect to be the only one without negative comments.
In conclusion, what would you choose? Of course advertising on Google or on Facebook depends a lot of your business domain. For example if you are a plumber, maybe it will be better to invest more in Google Ads. The reason is simple: when a pipe breaks first thing you do is Google Search. So you need to make sure that you are there when someone searches for you. But if you sell wedding dresses, maybe you’ll want to spend more on Facebook and target women that are engaged.
So, our agency’s opinion is that there is no right answer, but if asked we’ll advise you for sure to advertise on both platforms because your business needs to be seen online as much as possible to achieve your goal.
