Okay, so you have a webshop and you feel the need of something more when it comes to promoting your website. Here is the great news: Google Shopping Ads is now fully launched in Romania. This means that every webshop owner can start using its benefits.
Do you want a greater news? There is a LOOOT of opportunity, especially for Romania market.
But what is Google Shopping Ads, right?
They are product listing ads that may appear when you search a product. They show a high quality image, the name of the product and its price.
BUT, in order to show your products with Google Shopping you will first need to send a feed to a feed provider, in our case Google Merchant Center.
The feed has to contain:
Product title
You have to be very carful with how your product title looks like. When Google is looking for relevant results, it looks to the title first. So, if you sell laptops and your product’s titles are “black laptop 1”, “grey laptop 14” it won’t be relevant when someone searches “lenovo laptop”, although you sell that brand of laptops.
Product link
Make sure that the URL you provide matches exactly the product title.
Product image
The image will be provided through a link and has to be a high quality image, because the product image will be “in charge” of attracting customer’s eyes. For this, Google has some requirements: no watermark, no additional text, no logo.
Product category
This will be a information between you and Google, so it knows when to populate the Shopping search results. This is why Google has a request here: you have to populate the column with date from Google Product Taxonomy.
Product description
This will appear below the product title. Remember! Google Crawls product description too in it’s search for keywords. So you might want to use this opportunity to give it more keywords instead of focusing on the keywords you already use in your Product Title.
Custom label
This will came in handy when you will create Shopping campaigns in Google Ads. Trust my word! You will be able to sort your products by colour, or by promotion, etc. and you will be able to bid different each label you want.
Product price
This is of course required. Make sure you keep up with competition’s prices and price your products competitively. We advise you to use sale price to show your active discount and sales.
GTIN (or other unique item identifier)
Google need this information so it can group together retailers that are selling the same product (with the same GTIN, or MPN, or ISBN, etc)
Finally you will have to indicate the product condition (new or used) and availability (in stock, out of stock, available, preorder), and other informations like: colour, gender, size type, age group, etc depending on the product category.
Once you have the feed up and reviewed on Merchant Center, creating the Shopping Campaign is really simple. All you have to do is:
- Link your Merchant Center account to your Google Ads account
- Create your first Google Shopping Campaign!
- Click the Campaigns tab. Then, click + Campaign and select Shopping.
- On the “Select campaign settings” page, give your campaign a name.
- Provide a merchant identifier by clicking the Select account drop-down menu and choosing the Merchant ID.
- Choose your desired settings (country of sell, locations, budget, etc)
- Create product groups. At this step, you will have to decide how you want to organise your campaign.
- Create your ads and you are ready to go.
Happy Shopping, everyone! 🙂
